Whirling snowflakes

It’s early in the morning. I haven’t slept a wink this night. I don’t want to sleep. It’s too beautiful a view outside my window and I’m awake admiring this incredible, unexpected, unprecedented snowfall in the middle of May. Snowflakes are whirling. It’s been light all night. The boundaries between day and night are fading. Midnight sun is above the polar circle, yet concealed from us by stubborn clouds. The boundaries between here and anywhere else are growing. I begin to doubt the existence of any other place. Here and now. Only.

I found this picture with creative rhyming lines in it. Some ideas are just right for passing the winter time. Especially the leftmost ones.

Cocorosie rocks me nicely singing sweet lullabys.

Finally I’ve saved snapshots from my mobile onto my computer. And I’m happy to remember all those fabulous moments of the past weeks.

Roy’s encounters with snow…

and with more snow…

and never enough…

the infusion of energy from trampoline jumping…

Memories that rock me to sleep, white sleep.

  1. Hello Ula! Nice update to your blog again. I think it will serve as a useful tool to remember Tromso and to value your wonderful Erasmus experience.

Contray to Tromso the weather in Manchester has had no snow but instead an abundance of sun, sun, sun. I don’t complain about this either. I’ve been using the bike alot and cycled to the airport two days ago. I think the airport is nice but I got bored looking at the planes after 10minutes. There are plane spotters there with their binoculars and I have to say that I will not be joining them. I can’t imagine myself buying a pair of binoculars and look at planes. Nor, will I get one of those radios where you can hear the communication that goes on between a plane and the airport. Still, it was a nice ride in the good weather.

Some couchsurfing meetings coming up in Manchester which I will attend including a dinner party and a meeting in a park in Manchester.

Just wondering what date you hope to be on polar bear island and till when will you be in Tromso?

    Best,
    R

  2. Roy, thanks for a nice comment. We’re leaving for Svalbard on the 25th of May and coming back on the 4th of June. Then I’ll be in Tromso till the beginning of August. 16.08 – my cousin’s wedding (Ola’s) in Olsztyn!
I’m glad you’re going to attend CS events in Manchester. I’m sure they’ll be great meetings. Looking forward to hearing stories of those. Love,U.
